UK Charts: Girls Aloud is 'Kind Of Necessary'

No shocker here!

The new Girls Aloud single "The Promise" is #1 at midweek, and with over 24,500 copies sold already, it's a shoo- 'in for the #1 spot on the UK Singles Chart this Sunday. The next nearest competitor is P!nk with "So What" selling around 13,000 so far this week.

What kills me is that the Saturdays (how great is their new album, I ask ya?) are being beat by Geraldine by 19 copies for the #5 slot! And there is no sign of Leon Jackson at all in the Top 5. Hmmm....

Midweek Tally:

1. Girls Aloud - The Promise
2. P!nk - So What
3. Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire
4. Razorlight - Wire to Wire
5. Geraldine - The Winners Song

As I'm still underwhelmed with the GA single, I just kind of yawned when I saw this chart. I wouldn't even mind an AC/DC single or something.

I love "Lies" and "Chasing Lights" on the Saturdays' album (well, and other songs, too, but I'd at least heard parts of all the others I love before). Really great songs! And I think they're the perfect group (/have the perfect sound) for them.
