I alluded in this post that Blogger had deleted a post where I included a link to a Tiga song that I had PURCHASED at the Virgin Megastore in Orlando last weekend.
I was a bit baffled by the erasure, if you will, at first. Why would someone single out my little blog when there are thousands of full-blown mp3 blogs out there that post hundreds of songs daily, many of them leaks of new releases?
The problem was Tiga, and not the fact that it was a generic "mp3 file". It dawned on me when another blogger pointed out to me that yet another blogger and I had recently posted a Tiga song. Tiga was the common link.
I guess I should feel sorry for someone who takes valuable time away from the studio just to google himself everyday to see IF folks are talking about him. And in the off-chance someone is talking about a struggling DJ who's not had a major hit yet (in America...or anywhere right??) and a blogger posts a link for evaluation purposes, then the self-righteous and clearly delusional wannabe popstar feels an overwhelming need to inform Google or the web-host about the "blatant violation" of his copyright. I mean, if this were Madonna or Kylie, then their "people" would be handling this. Somehow, I seriously doubt Tiga has "people". Hell, Ellen doesn't have "people"! Hence my deduction that it's the DJ himself doing the searches.
I'm all in favor of supporting the artists and I do--hence my BUYING CDs, so I obviously believe in copyrights and such. I just think this should have been handled like an adult instead of a narc.
Let's not forget that many new acts are BEGGING bloggers to review and post their songs. That's a damn good way to get the word out. (HINT HINT) Especially if your career needs a boost, or in Tiga's case, a Defibrulator, or whatever.
And next time, Tiga, why don't you be a man about it and have the balls to email the blogger directly? Sending an anonymous email to Google screams "I'm a pussy!"
By the way, Mr. Tiga, don't be looking for ANY press around these parts anymore, save the negative. I only moderately liked your old stuff. The tragic "Sunglasses at Night" remix shit that you are hawking over at Beatport is unlistenable. Why do a subpar remake of a classic 80's song when you don't have a clue how to modernize it? But, I guess you know that already. I forgot, having a #19 hit on the Dance Chart makes you a superstar. My bad.
And in 10 years when you are selling used cars up in Montreal or wherever you live, remember that you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. And oh yeah, Karma is a bitch.
Thanks, XO, for the assist!

it actually might not be tiga. did you actually receive any emails or confirmation that it was? otherwise, i think it was probably just an issue with blogger. i've had that post as well as a few others disappear in the same time period, but now they're all staying up
ooo get you. is it wrong that i am turned on by your fury?!
In all seriousness, yes.., what a jackass.
I got an email from Blogger saying a complaint had come in and they deleted my post. Blogger gave me a link to find out who did the reporting, but the site that houses the complaints is "backed up" .. so I may never know. But really, it could be Tiga himself so until I find out for sure, I'm going to think it's him. Childish, maybe, but that's all I have to go on right now.
You tell 'em! I know there are gray areas regarding posting music, but that just seems a bit overboard.
